Position Summary

The Humanities Department at UNM-Taos invites applications for a full-time, Open Rank Lecturer (II–III) position beginning Spring 2026.

This is a unique opportunity at one of the most culturally vibrant and community-centered institutions in the Southwest.

This faculty role will teach a variety of courses, face-to-face on campus, including Enhanced Composition, Composition I, Composition II, and Professional & Technical Communication focused on inclusive pedagogy, student engagement, and academic support.

Nine-month faculty
salary is $60,000 to $62,000 based on education and experience.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate educator to teach English Composition and contribute to student success initiatives, academic momentum, and campus-wide instructional innovation.

This role brings together classroom teaching and early intervention in alignment with UNM-Taos’s Guided Pathways and our commitment to an exceptional student experience.

Humanities teaching at UNM-Taos is rooted in the rich context of the three cultures of northern New Mexico and engages students in experiential learning that connects directly to community and place.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

· Teach English Composition (ENGL 1110Z/1110/1120/2210)

· Collaborate with the Center for Academic Support & Achievement (CASA) to support Writing Studio programming, accessibility services, and embedded writing support

· Contribute to the success of first-year students

· Partner with Guided Pathways teams, advisors, and academic programs to ensure instruction is aligned with student degree maps

· Engage in faculty learning communities, professional development, and service that supports inclusive pedagogy and student persistence

Applicants must have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in the discipline or subfield in which they are applying to teach (., English, Writing Composition), with coursework at least one level above that of the courses being taught or developed (., completed a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline or subfield in which they teach or tested experience that is determined to be equivalent to the degree).

Preferred Qualifications:

·PhD in discipline or related field

·Teaching experience in a post-secondary institution

·Proficiency in teaching in a community college environment

·Experience in curriculum innovation for diverse learning styles

·Commitment to being part of a Professional Learning Community/Community of Learning

·A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understand of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities

·Demonstrated ability to work with students at a variety of academic levels

·Experience in developing courses and teaching in an online/hybrid environment

·Ability and credentials to teach a subject outside of English Composition
