Job description

Piper Health and Sciences is seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Monitoring (EM) Technician (Level I, II, or III) to join a talented manufacturing team located in Elkridge, Maryland.

This role supports cleanroom and controlled environment monitoring activities in compliance with GMP standards.

Candidates will be considered for Technician Level I, II, or III based on their experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities of the Environmental Monitoring (EM) Technician (I, II, III) Include:

  • Perform routine EM sampling including viable air, surface, personnel, and non-viable particulate monitoring.
  • Execute aseptic techniques and gowning procedures in classified cleanroom environments (ISO 5 to ISO 8).
  • Conduct Total Organic Carbon (TOC) and Bioburden testing and analysis.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of EM data in compliance with GMP standards.
  • Analyze and trend EM data to identify potential contamination risks.
  • Support cleanroom operations and ensure adherence to contamination control protocols.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and Facilities.
  • (Level II & III) Perform microbial identification techniques and support investigations.
  • (Level III) Provide guidance to junior staff and assist in training and supervision.
  • Qualifications of the Environmental Monitoring (EM) Technician (I, II, III) Include:

    Technician Level I:

  • 0–2 years of relevant experience in:EM sampling, aseptic technique, GMP, TOC, Bioburden testing, cleanroom operations, and EM data analysis.EM surveillance in biomedical, biopharmaceutical, or pharmaceutical settings.GMP gowning and cleanroom environments (ISO 5–8).
  • Technician Level II:

  • 2–4 years of relevant experience including all Level I requirements, plus:Microbial identification techniques.
  • Technician Level III:

  • 5–6 years of relevant experience including all Level II requirements, plus:Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Generally Preferred Skills Include:

  • Strong understanding of GMP and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in EM data trending and reporting tools.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Compensation of the EM Technician Includes:
