Job description

Description

The Department of Kinesiology and Health Education is seeking a tenure track faculty member with expertise in areas including human muscle physiology, muscular function, and/or other physiological sub-disciplines related to improving human performance (e.g., neuromechanics, ergonomics, etc.).

Our department houses separate but allied programs in Movement and Cognitive Rehabilitation Science (MCRS) and Exercise Physiology.

The mission of these related programs is to advance core knowledge related to the physiological systems of the body and to understand how these systems and the human body as a whole relate to movement, health, and well-being.

Our goal is to translate this knowledge into the improvement of clinical and functional outcomes for people across sport and physical activity, and across different stages of life.

Our ideal candidate is someone who can contribute to research in areas such as muscle physiology and biomechanical and neuro-muscular research.

This search welcomes applications from candidates investigating the musculoskeletal system, the nervous system, biomechanics of the body, and all other aspects of human physiology, movement, and physical activity.

We expect the successful candidate to have an established publication record and to demonstrate a strong record of (or potential for) securing external grants to support their research.

In addition, they should demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching courses in exercise physiology, movement science, and other exercise science sub-disciplinary areas.

The college has experienced a rapid expansion of interest in its academic programs over the past five years.

About 30% of our admitted students are first-generation college students and come from all corners of Texas and beyond.

Our students are joined by a world-class faculty who are among the nation’s leading experts in their respective fields.

As a leading college of education in Texas and beyond, we are agents of change committed to transforming education and health research, practice, and policy to ensure the thriving of children, families, schools, and communities.

In our efforts to align our college to address the most pressing challenges in the fields of education and health, we launched a strategic vision known as Reimagine Education (see ).

In advancing this effort, we have organized our academic and research aspirations around three Signature Impact Areas: Advancing Equity and Eliminating Disparities in Health and Education, Attending to Place and Context, and Thriving through Transitions.
