**Job Description**
BAE Systems, one of the world s largest defense contractors and a Fortune 500 Company, is hiring a Structural Engineer to help us conceptualize and execute modernization and sustainment of energetic manufacturing processes at Holston Army Ammunition Plant.

In this position, you will be supporting the Ordnance Systems, Inc.

(OSI) Business at our Kingsport, TN facility.

We have the same role open at our Radford, VA site.

This position will report onsite operating on a 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off.

As a Structural Engineer, you will support the design and construction of multi-million-dollar modernization programs as the person in responsible charge of civil-structural related work.

Your work will include planning, design, analysis, and engineering inputs into the construction and maintenance of chemical plant facilities.

You will work on a multi-discipline team with process, mechanical and electrical engineers to evaluate, perform and determine structural and civil engineering needs for large scale construction projects.

You will provide technical oversight and give field support throughout the construction and commissioning process while working with internal and external design sources.

As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will:

+ Perform structural design and analysis for structural steel buildings, reinforced concrete buildings and structures, pipe supports, and foundation systems.
+ Perform project engineering working in a multi-discipline engineering team to plan, design, construct, and maintain chemical plant facilities including supporting utilities and infrastructure.
+ Select construction materials and methods, create engineering estimates, write specifications and scopes of work, create and supervise the preparation of structural and architectural drawings, control cost, and manage work to meet project schedules.
+ Conduct inspections of existing facilities such as buildings, tank farms, roads, railroads, pipe bridges, and pipelines to determine the integrity and safety of the structure.

Make recommendations concerning any needed modifications.
+ Determine root cause of structural or system failures and recommend corrective action.
+ Oversee mapping and surveying functions which involve layout of new facilities and maintenance of records of site plans, plant layouts, and above-ground and underground utilities.
+ Provide technical oversight during construction including shop drawing review and approval, ensuring construction is in accordance with plans, specifications, and good construction practices.
+ Consider safety in all aspects of design and construction.

**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**

+ Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.

We may consider a closely related degree.
+ Professional Engineering License in Tennessee or ability to obtain license within 6-12 months.
+ Typically 6 years experience in industrial design and construction, with an emphasis in structural engineering.
+ Proficient knowledge STAAD/RAM, Entercalc, Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) for efficient production of engineering work.
+ Working knowledge of CADD tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
+ Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as UFC, IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, NFPA and AISC.
+ Ability to direct design teams and external design firms, review and approve design packages from equipment suppliers and design firms providing constructability input.
+ Capable of creating required engineering documentation using Microsoft Office M365 Suite products including Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, and Access.

**Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills**

+ Experience in the design and construction of chemical facilities that involve the use of acids and solvents.
+ Skilled in principles of project management.
+ Experience in energetics and related processes and Department of Defense (DoD) projects.
+ Experience with demilitarization, explosives site safety (DDESB), or environmental safety regulations (EPA, TDEC, etc.).#LI-Onsite #LI-JR1

**Pay Information**
Full-Time Salary Range: $94728 - $161038

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures.

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
