We’re currently seeking experienced Blade Operator to join our Douglas team, with occasional travel to other project sites in Gillette and other surrounding areas.
Job Summary The Blade Operator is responsible for operating motor graders (blades) to perform precise grading, finishing, and earthmoving tasks for site preparation and construction projects.
This position ensures safe, efficient, and accurate operation of blades to meet project specifications and deadlines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate motor graders (blades) to perform fine grading, finish grading, and shaping of surfaces for oilfield and construction projects.
Execute precise cuts, fills, and grading to achieve specified slopes, elevations, and contours.
Follow directions from supervisors to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
Conduct pre-operation inspections and perform basic maintenance on assigned equipment.
Ensure safe operation of blades, adhering to all safety guidelines and procedures.
Report any equipment malfunctions or hazards to supervisors immediately.
Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
Assist with other related tasks as assigned, including operation of secondary equipment such as dozers or loaders when required.
Required Skills and Abilities Proven expertise in operating motor graders (blades) with precision and efficiency.
Strong understanding of grading techniques, slope control, and blueprint reading.
Ability to follow supervisor’s instructions and interpret project plans.
Strong situational awareness and commitment to safety.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong work ethic and adaptability to changing project demands.
Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of heavy equipment operating experience preferred.
Required Finish Blade experience.
Certifications and Licenses Valid Driver’s License Work Environment Outdoor job sites in oilfield and construction environments with exposure to varying weather conditions.
May be exposed to dust, mud, noise, vibrations, and heavy machinery.
Traveling to remote or rural job sites may be required.
Physical Demands Prolonged periods of operating heavy equipment.
Ability to climb on and off machinery safely.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Ability to sit, stand, and operate controls for extended periods.
Schedule Typical schedule is Monday through Friday.
Overtime, weekend, and extended hours may be required depending on project demands.
