The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and analytical professional to join our Fixed Income team as a Municipal Bond Trading specialist.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the implementation of fixed income strategies, including municipal, corporate, and structured products for MML Investor Advisors and the MML Investors Wealth Management team.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced sole contributor but thrive in the trading team environment.

The Impact:

As the Fixed Income Trader & Strategist, your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Support MML Investor Services field advisors by providing superior service offering expertise in the fixed income space and skilled coaching on the MML Investor Services trading platforms.

    Construct fixed income ladders and portfolios.

  • Buy and sell bonds for client portfolios with specific attention to US Treasury and agency securities, corporate bonds, and municipal bonds with municipal bonds being primary focus.

  • Drive portfolio strategy by contributing to portfolio implementation, strategy development, and process development.

  • Support MML’s internal investment management team with fixed income portfolio construction for client advisory accounts and SMAs.

  • Portfolio monitoring for existing bond portfolios under MML’s internal investment management team, with attention to cash flows, maturity planning, and credit monitoring.

  • Creates, runs, and interprets analyses for clients and relationship managers

  • Support MML’s internal investment management team within scope of expertise

  • Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and recommendations for internal stakeholders, advisors and clients.

  • Support the team in maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and internal control policies.

    Special attention to best execution analysis and trade reporting (TRACE, RTRS)

  • Administer trade corrections and fixed income trades for back-office support.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of investment processes and tools staying abreast of technologies and academic findings in the Fixed Income space.

  • Develop a deep understanding of MML Investors product shelf and trading rules pertinent to each product line.

  • The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • FINRA Series 7 at time of application

  • FINRA Series 24 at time of application or must obtain within 6 months of hire

  • FINRA Series 53 or at time of application or must obtain within 9 months of hire

  • 7+ years of fixed income trading experience

  • 5+ years of municipal bond trading experience

  • The Ideal Qualifications

  • Strong appreciation of client service.

    Must have the ability to work in a team environment and be focused on providing high quality service to our clients

  • Strong presentation skills to audiences with diverse investment backgrounds.

  • Experience with Bloomberg, Alternative Trading Systems, Bond Beacon & the NFS custodial platform.

  • BA/CFA or progress toward MBA/CFA.

  • Strong intellectual curiosity

  • Strong leadership skills through a collaborative team approachStrong problem-solving skills
