Department Summary
The Center for Human Identification (CHI) is an accredited forensic laboratory located on the campus of The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth.
With funding from the state of Texas and various Federal Government agencies, CHI supports DNA testing, forensic genetic genealogy, anthropological examinations, CODIS operations, forensic training, and cutting-edge research and development initiatives.
CHI also manages the Texas Missing Persons DNA Database.
Position Overview
The Forensic Genealogist uses research skills to hypothesize the source of unidentified human remains and criminal suspects via familial relatives contained in genealogical databases; and assist law enforcement with investigative leads for criminal and missing persons cases.
This research includes use of public records, as well as genealogical databases such as GEDMatch.
This person must be able to demonstrate previous experience conducting genealogical research, and strong writing skills are required.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience working with law enforcement and/or related agencies on unresolved cases.
