Job Summary

Dominion Energy's Power Generation Business Unit seeks a Generation Network Specialist to support the Power Generation fleet (non-nuclear) with network devices, network architecture, and network communications security which are part of the SCADA and Industrial Control System (ICS) environments and ICS Cyber Security environments.

Primary focus is for Power Generation Solar and Battery Storage Fleet support.

The successful candidate will be able to provide the support noted below in accordance with standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements, for the Power Generation fleet and its auxiliaries:

  1. Support SCADA and ICS managed network device configurations (e.g. network switches, routers, firewalls) and architectures in a high availability environment and support associated network communications implementations and modifications.

  2. Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for networking issues and manage, configure, install, troubleshoot, and provide oversight for network devices and network services associated with SCADA/ICS systems, Cyber Security networks, and associated communication interfaces.

  3. Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including replacement, service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.

  4. Troubleshoot and Analyze network Switches, Routers, Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention/Detection Systems.

  5. Architect and implement network designs.

  6. Provide network engineering expertise in the disciplines of core routing, core switching, network security, network diagnostics, and load balancing.

  7. Monitor regulatory requirements, industry trends, and potential impacts to Power Generation operational system networks and produce risk communications.

  8. Monitor system performance, connectivity, and resource utilization.

  9. Provide strategic planning for maintaining the SCADA/ICS system networks and associated Cyber Security networks.

  10. Provide change management review and approvals.

  11. Follow change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.

  12. Act as a mentor to other staff members to broaden network knowledge and technical expertise across the team.

  13. Serve as corporate liaison with the operations and maintenance personnel to assure compliance with Power Generation Engineering and corporate policies, and procedures.

  14. Support the strategic management of network device information and configurations for Power Generation SCADA/ICS and associated Cyber Security related network devices.

  15. Address ICS-CERT identified vulnerabilities and resolve in coordination with Power Generation Regulatory Compliance (PGRC) and PGE Cyber Security personnel.

  16. Perform firewall rule reviews and investigation.

  17. Ensure system drawings and documentation are revised as needed.

  18. Coordinate with Power Generation and Corporate Cyber Security, Compliance, and IT for enterprise firewall rule change requests as needed.

  19. Serve as a cyber security team member and uphold responsibilities in support of the fleet and related cyber security project implementations including cyber security event follow-ups in coordination with the Incident Response Team.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
  1. 7+ years of experience in network design, management/programming and deployment, firewall configurations, network switch configurations, and network security.

  2. Strong networking foundations and experience in the development of network design architecture, topologies, and security.

  3. Strong experience with Network Switches, Firewalls, and Routers.

  4. Experience working in high availability network environments.

  5. Experienced in assessing and resolving complex data network problems and incidents.

  6. Strong level of understanding of IT/OT security principles, technologies, and best practices.

  7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  8. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and assignments concurrently and manage deadlines.

  9. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

  10. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  11. Ability to successfully work both independently and in a team environment to identify errors, pinpoint root causes, and devise solutions with minimal oversight.

Preferred:

  1. Network experience with Industrial Control Systems (SCADA, PLC, DCS) and third-party datalink protocols (e.g. Modbus, DNP, etc.).

  2. Microsoft/Cisco device and system administration experience.

  3. Experience working in an industrial production environment.

  4. Network Certifications.

  5. Cyber Security Certifications.

  6. Cisco certifications.

*The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications.

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined.

Education Requirements

Education Level: Bachelor of Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems.

Other Bachelor disciplines may be substituted for the approved disciplines stated above at discretion of the hiring manager.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

A valid driver's license is required.

Cisco certifications preferred
