More About the Position:
CERTERRA/Western Technologies Inc.

is seeking a geotechnical field and lab technician, to join our geotechnical team in Tucson, AZ! The ideal candidate excels in working with a team, is self-directed, adaptable, entrepreneurial, and aligned with CERTERRA’s core values and mission.

This position will be primarily field and laboratory based, with opportunities to develop management and reporting skills as responsibilities increase.
What You Can Do for Us Now:

  • Plan and conduct detailed field explorations involving field mapping, drilling, test pits, trenches and collection and characterization of soil and bedrock samples

  • Characterize and evaluate soil, rock, groundwater and other natural conditions prior to major construction projects

  • Perform geotechnical laboratory tests

  • Contribute to preparation of geotechnical engineering reports and technical documents with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and succinctness

  • Additional tasks as needed
  • The Candidate We Hire Must Have:

  • Passion for the environment, science, and or geotechnical engineering

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to solve problems in the field and are mechanically inclined

  • High motivation with a talent for interpersonal communication and the ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to multi-task and meet multiple strict deadlines

  • Reliable, dependable, and punctual

  • U.S. Citizenship or legal authorization to work in the U.S.

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, environmental science, engineering or related field, preferred but not required

  • 0 to 3 years of related experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Suite software.
