Job Summary
The GIS Mapping Technician supports the Electric eGIS team in transitioning legacy mapping systems to the ArcFM platform.
This role involves validating and maintaining GIS data integrity, performing spatial analysis, and ensuring mapping accuracy across electric and gas network components.
The technician will work in a hybrid environment, collaborating with the team to ensure smooth data migration and reliable mapping functionality.
Job Responsibilities
Conduct multiple spatial queries to validate the accuracy of migrated legacy mapping data within the Esri system
Review land base symmetry, structure connectivity, and cable continuity
Verify attribute data for all linear and point features related to electric and gas components
Perform map symbology updates and develop symbology solutions as needed
Conduct system testing to ensure the full functionality of the new mapping platform
Maintain organized datasets, including Excel spreadsheets and other supporting documentation
Prioritize and manage data review tasks to meet project timelines
Assist with additional eGIS projects as required
Develop a foundational understanding of organizational mapping systems, workflows, and related software
Job Requirements
Strong analytical and technical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Demonstrated knowledge of MXD building, spatial queries, and spatial analysis
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Experience in a utility or related technical environment preferred
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Education
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of six months of experience using Esri ArcMap
Demonstrated knowledge of Esri GIS preferred

Hybrid schedule: 2 days onsite, 3 days remote
Work hours: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
