Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in an applied research setting (e.g., product or academic), or similar.
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods, including usability testing, log analysis, and surveys.

Preferred qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience conducting UX research on products and working with executive leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
  • 3 years of experience managing projects, and working in a cross-functional organization.
  • Experience in a variety of product spaces, applied research, or academic settings.
  • Proficiency in communicating user research findings with cross-functional partners to drive impact.

As a User Experience Researcher (UXR), you'll help your team of UXers, product managers, and engineers understand user needs.

You'll explore user behaviors and motivations by conducting primary research such as field studies, interviews, diary studies, participatory workshops, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis.

As a Mixed Methods UX Researcher (UXR), you'll use various methods to understand users and provide data-driven recommendations to improve user experience.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $151,000-$222,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a collaborative, user-centric team to gain insights, data, and storytelling to advance the Google experience.

    Partner with UXRs to conduct foundational and iterative research.
  • Own your qualitative and quantitative UXR roadmap for project areas with horizontal and vertical impact.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to formulate research questions and influence product strategy and design through research and analyses.
  • Create scalable frameworks to understand user needs, both stated and unstated, for your product team by visualizing user data.
  • Develop insights to create useful, usable, and delightful products and continually innovate on existing products.
