Location: Manoa Campus

Salary Information: Step 14 $2,335.50 per month/ $28,026 annually @ 20 hours per week

Monthly Appointment Type: 11-Month 

Part Time/ Full Time: Part Time

Full Time Equivalency: 50%

Temporary/ Permanent: Temporary

Other Conditions: To begin as soon as possible.

Renewal of appointment is dependent on satisfactory performance, program needs, availability of funds, and meeting the eligibility requirements of the assistantship (for details , go to the UHM Graduate Division website Eligibility & Criteria | Graduate Division (hawaii.edu).


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage proposal and project tasks.
  • Keep proposals and projects on time and on task.

  • Organize meetings and partner engagement activities.
  • Participate in project implementation and research activities.
  • Assist in facilitating and implementing partner engagement activities and meetings.
  • Writing grants, planning and brainstorming new programs.

  • Maintain frequent communication with faculty and collaborators, including potential travel to meet with collaborators and implement programs if possible.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Acceptance or enrollment in a UH Manoa Masters or PhD program in good academic standing; if currently enrolled, 3.0 GPA or above and making appropriate progress toward degree.
  • Background/ coursework in health sciences (medicine, public health, nursing, veterinary medicine, social work, pharmacy or other), social sciences, qualitative research, community and/or government engagement, agriculture, or other related fields to support program development and growth.
  • Complete assigned tasks with a high degree of attention to detail, accuracy and quality.
  • Able to work independently, take initiative as appropriate, and reliably contribute to the team.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks efficiently to meet project deadlines and expectations.
  • Proficient in word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong quantitative or qualitative analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to be positive and professional in a work environment.
  • Must be residing on O‘ahu, Hawai‘i and be available on-campus.
  • Desirable Qualifications:

  • Proficient in using spreadsheet software (Excel, Google Sheets) and advanced functions such as creating charts, using formulas, generating pivot tables and pivot charts.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience with health or social sciences.
  • Demonstrative ability to work in a team.
