Heavy Equipment Operator – Grading & Excavation Crew



Job description

Job Overview:
We are seeking experienced, safety-minded Heavy Equipment Operators to join our grading and excavation crew for a variety of construction and utility projects.

In this role, you’ll operate machinery such as excavators, dozers, skid steers, loaders, and backhoes to perform site development, grading, trenching, backfilling, and slope creation.

You’ll also assist with site preparation, layout, and cleanup to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to specifications.




Responsibilities:




  • Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently for grading, excavation, and site development tasks



  • Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance on equipment



  • Follow grading plans, site layouts, and project specifications



  • Work with the crew to trench, backfill, grade, and prepare sites for construction



  • Assist with site cleanup and preparation as needed



  • Maintain clear communication with supervisors and team members



  • Follow all safety procedures and regulations




Requirements:




  • 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment (excavators, dozers, skid steers, loaders, etc.)



  • Proven experience in grading and excavation work



  • Ability to read and interpret grading/site plans



  • Knowledge of grading techniques and excavation best practices preferred



  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team environment



  • Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus)
