Position Summary
The Honors Program at Colorado State University invites applications for part-time instructors to teach interdisciplinary Honors seminars.

These seminars are a cornerstone of the Honors curriculum and give students the opportunity to explore complex questions through multiple disciplinary lenses.

Each seminar is built around a faculty-proposed topic and emphasizes critical inquiry, integrative thinking, and discussion-based learning.

While course content varies, all seminars challenge students to examine how knowledge is shaped across disciplines and how diverse perspectives deepen understanding.

Class sizes range from 19–22 students, offering an ideal environment for collaborative dialogue, intellectual risk-taking, and meaningful faculty-student engagement.

Honors seminars are a key component of the Honors Core Curriculum and may fulfill a range of All-University Core Curriculum ( AUCC ) requirements, including Written Communication, Arts and Humanities, Historical Perspectives, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Global and Cultural Awareness.

Faculty work in collaboration with Honors leadership to ensure that their courses align with both AUCC outcomes and the broader goals of the Honors Program.

Support is provided throughout the design process to help instructors create courses that are both deeply personal in focus and broadly integrative in structure.

Ideal Candidates Will:

+ Bring interdisciplinary expertise to bear on a compelling course theme that invites students into creative and critical inquiry.

+ Design a seminar that fosters student-driven dialogue, interdisciplinary integration, and reflective thinking, with an emphasis on writing, creative exploration, project-based learning, and other applied or high-impact practices such as collaborative research, experiential learning, or community engagement.

+ Encourage students to make meaningful connections between academic inquiry and real-world issues, preparing them to navigate complexity with curiosity, adaptability, and a sense of purpose.

+ Embrace the Honors Program’s values of collaboration, creativity, and inclusive excellence, cultivating a learning environment where all students feel a sense of belonging and challenge.

Conditions of EmploymentPre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires)

Required Job Qualifications

+ Candidates are expected to have a personal and professional commitment to presenting students with challenging and varied topics of discussion as demonstrated by involvement in teaching, research, creative activity, and service to the profession.
