Immunology/Rheumatology Scientist or Physician Scientist (Open Rank) Job Opening In Stanford – Now Hiring Stanford University


Job description

The Division of Immunology and Rheumatology in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University is seeking a scientist or physician-scientist wet lab, translational, or informatics investigator at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor with translational and mechanistic research expertise and interest in one or more of the following areas: autoimmune disease, immunologic mechanisms of disease, genomics, other “omics” research, pre-clinical models of disease, informatics, clinical trials and/or other areas of translational research in autoimmune, inflammatory, and/or rheumatic disease.

The candidate must hold a MD, PhD, or MD/PhD or equivalent.

Although board-eligibility or board-certification is desired, board-eligibility or board-certification is not required.

The applicant must be qualified for appointment to a faculty position at Stanford University.

The position will be in the University Tenure Line (UTL) or University Medical Line (UML), with the expectation that time will be split among research, mentoring/teaching activities, and clinical activities (for those with the appropriate training).

The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching.

The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.

Faculty rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The successful candidate will be expected to have outstanding research (or potential of outstanding research), clinical and/or teaching skills.

The candidate is required to contribute to the research programs, and either have an established track record of funded research or have demonstrated the ability or shown the potential to obtain peer-reviewed research funding relevant to diverse areas, within inflammatory disease, autoimmune disease, and/or rheumatic disease.

The position will be based at Stanford University Medical Center.

Stanford University School of Medicine is a national leader in the development and training of physician scientists beginning in medical school and continuing into postgraduate training and transition to junior faculty.

The Department of Medicine’s robust research residency program in internal medicine is one of 14 research residencies in the School of Medicine which are linked with one of the nation’s top MSTPs as well as one of the largest MD-only medical student research programs in the country.

Newly-independent physician scientist faculty will be required to participate in existing School of Medicine and Department of Medicine career development programs to nurture their own careers.

Senior faculty will be expected to serve as mentors and sponsors for aspiring physician scientists and for junior faculty.

The expected base pay for this position is:

Assistant Professor: $269,000 - $280,000

Associate Professor: $288,000 - $301,000

Professor: $310,000 - $353,000

This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank.

It does not include all components of the School of Medicine’s faculty compensation program or pay from participation indepartmental incentive compensation programs.
