Opportunities to learn and grow in a supportive environmentCollaboration with experts across utilities and infrastructureThe chance to make a tangible difference in the safety, efficiency, and innovation of our systemsKey ResponsibilitiesDesign and Innovate: Develop design packages and support installation and commissioning of utility ICS systems and OT networks, using industry best practices to architect efficient solutionsSolve Complex Problems: Troubleshoot and resolve networking issues with creativity and technical expertise, ensuring smooth operations across systemsCollaborate and Lead: Partner with engineers, operators, and IT professionals to create seamless IT/OT integration and support organizational goalsChampion Best Practices: Apply engineering principles to maintain OT networks, implement predictive maintenance, and ensure compliance with NERC CIP standardsDrive Progress: Engage in planning, purchasing, and quality assurance for technical goods and services, contributing to the development of innovative solutionsWhat You NeedMinimum Job Requirements:Technical Expertise:Hands-on knowledge of OT networking protocols (DNP3.0, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, etc.)Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and managed network switches (Cisco, Arista, Dell)A solid understanding of Ethernet, fiber optic, and wireless hardware, including hardware specification for networksThorough understanding of OT network architecture (Purdue Model etc.)Hands-on experience with SEL ICON and RTACEngineering Know-How:Familiarity with engineering principles, maintenance techniques, and construction methodologiesExperience applying engineering standards, project planning, and process engineering practicesProblem-Solving Skills: A knack for resolving diverse, complex challenges with practical, forward-thinking solutionsClear Communication: Confidence working across teams, fostering collaboration, and building consensus at IT/OT intersectionsEducation/Experience at Engineer 2 ($104,100 - $172,200): Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university and a minimum of 3 years practical work experience to the degree necessary to perform the responsibilities outlined above.
Current registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is highly desirable.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM.
All work locations are at the discretion of management.Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
