**Informatics Nurse II (RN) - Provider Informatics - (Harrisburg, Central PA Region)**
**Position Detail:**
+ Full-time Regular, 40 hours per week, Salaried Position
+ Travel expected, primarily within Central PA region
+ Work Schedule:
+ Monday - Friday, primarily dayshift hours, 8:00am - 4:30pm
+ Occasional need for flexibility during early mornings and evenings
+ No weekends or holidays

**Purpose:**
Under the direction of the Director, Clinical and Operational Informatics (DCOI), the Informatics Nurse II has the responsibility and accountability of leading the investigation, development, and implementation of new technology as it relates to clinical practice and serving as a liaison between the clinical and the technical personnel.
Informatics nurse II works with project team members to ensure a successful, on time go live.
He/she demonstrates knowledge of project management, methodology, organizational skills: possess strong group facilitation skills, provides direction and support for decision making; enables timely and effective communication among project team.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Develops and conducts training programs for all levels of end users for new applications and upgrades.
Evaluates tools for education programs, modifies scripting based on the changes in the application, including train domain build.
Coordinates class schedules.
Performs work in a timely manner, meeting assigned deadlines.
Assigns deadlines for projects and assesses productivity and progress of informatics projects.
Develops policy statements as they relate to informatics changes effecting nursing policies.
Recommends additions to policies as needed for changes in eRecord.
Monitors eRecord use by end users and adherence to policies ensuring quality and safety.
Takes action to improved knowledge, skills and performance based on feedback or on self-identified developmental needs and provides similar feedback to co-workers

Coordinates and participates interdepartmental and system activities to enhance communication and social interaction.
Develops, organizes and assigns educational training programs to assure proficiency of the informatics team.
Provides mentorship at any level.
Including the system level, to enhance the education and growth of future informatics nurses.
+ Supervises creation of educational materials and also actively assists in creating educational materials in accordance with system standards for educational documents.
Assess what communication tools will be effective for the end users that are being trained and assess effectiveness of education in coordination with the DCOI.
Assigns appropriate staff for completion of the communication/education plan.
Demonstrates advance knowledge of system integration and applications.
Provides education to Informatics nurses/councils on technology applications and their impact to the end users.
Advanced knowledge is used to problem solve and work with system teams to advance and prevent system compromise.
+ Enhances the partnership with nursing units and end users to maintain open dialogue with all levels of informatics.
Responds to issues and creates an open workflow to support change to the eRecord.
Supports the Informatics nurse I in developing relationships with end users and development of project plans for end users ideas.
Maintains membership and provides collaboration and or leadership to committees, work groups, or task forces as needed to communicate and facilitate the ongoing progress of development, implementation, and revision of the clinical information system.
Significantly contributes in Informatics Professional organizations activities to enhance personal growth and cultivate relationships in the field at a regional and national level.
Performs all other job-related activities as assigned.
Collaborates with key personnel as appropriate to investigate new technology to finalize and advance the project goals.
+ Participates or chairs informatics councils at both system and local levels.
Able to prepare meeting agendas, handouts and documentation of meeting minutes.
Demonstrates skills of professional presentation of topics via public speaking or the written word.
Supports Informatics I nurse in developing skills for presentation at local and system meetings.
Collects and coordinates the flow of data to support system and local projects.
Correlates and trends data to analysis the effectiveness or progress of projects to hospital departments, as directed by DCOI.
Provides education of available reports to hospital management.
+ Provides assignments for continuous improvement projects for the maintenance of the eRecord.
Assists the DCOI in formulating system and local plans for improvement strategies for quality and regulatory initiatives.
Assesses projects for submission and participates in research activities, develops plans for future research topics, submit abstracts for presentations at local, regional and national conferences professional meeting, submit articles for publications, and/or participate in community/volunteer activities.
Coordinates upon request in local and system teams for participation in system application validation.
Reviews and or investigates system changes using evidence based best practice.
Presents findings to teams to assure proper changes to the EHR
+ Objectively observes and educates end users utilizing unit rounds to identify ongoing educational needs regarding clinical documentation issues, patient care challenges, and software application upgrades.
Prioritizes and analyzes end user feedback and reported issues, then develops proposal for resolution.
Escalates issues to DCOI.
Acts as project manager for clinical informatics projects.
This may include developing the project plan, timeline, impact, risk assessment, education plan, and current state/future state workflow in coordination with key stakeholders.
Ensures project is on time and on budget.
Provides internal and system consulting and acts as a resource for all levels of personnel.
Promotes and educates personnel on the objectives of the informatics department.
Supports change initiatives by including/ensuring appropriate Informatics nurse for EHR initiatives both at the local and system level.
+ Graduate of an approved school of nursing for registered nurses
+ Minimum of 3 years acute care nursing experience required
+ 2 years Nursing Informatics experience required
+ BSN required
+ MSN or Masters in Health related field required.
+ If Masters in related field, then BSN required.
**Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:**
+ Current licensure for practicing state as a Registered Professional Nurse license or eligible for State Board Licensure.
+ Certification required within 3 years of informatics employment (ANCC Nursing Informatics or CPHIMS)
+ Registered Nurse (RN)
*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state.
Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
