The Information System Security Officer (ISSO) is responsible for the security of an organization's information systems.
Their duties include implementing security policies, assessing risks, responding to security breaches, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
ISSOs play a critical role in protecting sensitive data and maintaining the overall security posture of an organization.

This position is located in our USA VA Arlington, however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Developing and Implementing Security Policies: ISSOs create and enforce security policies, protocols, and procedures to protect information systems.
• Risk Assessment and Management: They conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and risk analyses to identify potential threats and weaknesses.
• Security Incident Response: ISSOs respond to security incidents, investigate breaches, and implement corrective actions to minimize damage and prevent future occurrences.
• Compliance and Governance: They ensure that the organization's information systems comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
• Security Awareness Training: ISSOs may be involved in educating and training employees on security best practices.
• System Security Management: Manage security aspects of information systems, including configuration management, access control, and data protection.
• Collaboration and Communication: ISSOs work with various teams, including IT, security, and management, to ensure a coordinated and effective security approach.
• Monitoring and Evaluation: They monitor network traffic, system logs, and security tools to detect anomalies and respond to potential threats.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree and/or 2 to 5 years of experience.
• Security Clearance: Candidates must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of security principles, technologies, and best practices.
• Risk Management Framework (RMF): Experience with the Risk Management Framework and its application to information systems.
• Security Architecture: Understanding of secure system design principles and experience developing secure architectures.
• Security Controls: Knowledge of various security controls and their implementation.
• Vulnerability Assessment: Experience with vulnerability scanning tools and techniques.
• Security Documentation: Ability to create and maintain security documentation.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex security challenges.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications.
