Duties Description Under the direction of an Information Technology Specialist 3 within the Office of Information Technology Services in Albany, the selected candidate will support the Department of Tax and Finance (DTF).
The position is for a lead developer in the Business Process Automation team.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
• Assist in gathering process requirements from business users.
• Document process steps and create simple workflow diagrams.
• Build, test, and maintain automation workflows.
• Use bot design tools to design Robotic Process Automation (RPA) bots.
• Learn and work with automation tools (., Selenium, Playwright, JMeter, Blaze meter, TestNG).
• Reuse existing components and follow coding standards.
• Perform unit testing of bots to validate functionality.
• Identify bugs, troubleshoot errors, and fix issues in collaboration with senior developers.
• Assist in deploying bots into test and production environments.
• Monitor bot performance and escalate issues when needed.
• Support minor updates or enhancements to existing bots.
• Maintain proper documentation of workflows, code changes, and test results.
• Stay updated on RPA best practices, new tool features, and automation trends.
• Follow organizational coding guidelines, security protocols, and compliance requirements.
Minimum Qualifications Open Competitive: A bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science.
OR
A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology;
OR
60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology.
OR
Two years of professional experience in information technology.
Promotion: Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 1, Salary Grade (SG) 14.
Transfer: Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 or Information Technology Specialist 2 Programming, G-18; OR in a title G-16 or above deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
