INJECTION MOLDING MACHINE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (STARLINK)

SpaceX is developing a low latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe.

Enabled by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink will provide fast, reliable internet to populations with little or no connectivity, including those in rural communities and places where existing services are too expensive or unreliable.

We are looking for talented, creative, and driven technicians to drive manufacturing output and yield.

You will have ownership of one or more process areas and will have the opportunity to directly impact Starlink’s products.

You will have frequent interaction with engineering teams and leadership and will participate in developing and validating new equipment, processes, and technologies.

The success of Starlink depends on the quality, reliability, cost, manufacturability, throughput, security, and user experience of the products that you will manufacture.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Install, commission, and validate intelligent equipment to support injection molding equipment

+ Oversee operator instructions, critical parameters, checklists, and training materials for all molding operations

+ Read and utilize schematics (mechanical/electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic) to troubleshoot systems down to the component level

+ Read and safely execute lockout tagout procedures

+ Utilize diagnostic equipment to monitor equipment performance, diagnose root cause, and make reliability improvement recommendations

+ Use schematics, hand tools, electrical gauges, and common test equipment for calibration, diagnosis and repair, or maintenance of equipment

+ Communicate with suppliers, specify requirements, get quotations, and submit purchase requisitions to purchase necessary items

+ Provide feedback and work with maintenance and engineering and vendor teams to drive root cause of equipment downtime

+ Conduct training for production personnel

+ Operate material handling equipment including, but not limited to, scissor lifts and forklifts

+ Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

+ High school diploma or equivalency certificate

+ 1+ years of professional experience a manufacturing environment (high pressure die casting, CNC machining, stamping, injection molding, etc.) or other skilled trade supporting manufacturing

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

+ 3+ years plastic injection molding experience in a production environment

+ Strong skills in troubleshooting with scientific, Paulson, or RJG processes

+ Comprehensive knowledge and thorough understanding of robotics and auxiliary equipment used with plastics injection molding machines

+ Experience of multi-shot molding, automated color blending, and central material drying system

+ 3+ years experience with highly automated injection molding cells

+ 3+ years molding experience with Engel brand machines

+ Experience in independently troubleshooting advanced electrical circuits, electronic systems, motors & starters, electrically operated equipment, and making successful repairs and modifications

+ Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Office, and Word

+ Able to interpret geometrical tolerances on part drawings

+ Electrical wiring experience and some knowledge of how PLCs, sensors, and other electrical components are wired and work

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

+ Must be willing to work overtime, and/or weekends as needed

+ Must be willing to train on 1st shift for the first 30 days.

+ Must be willing to work one or more of the following schedules:

+ A- Shift 5 AM - 5 PM (Sunday - Tuesday and every other Wednesday)

+ B-Shift 5 AM - 5 PM (Thursday - Saturday and every other Wednesday)

+ C-Shift: 5 PM - 5 AM (Sunday - Tuesday and every other Wednesday)

+ D-Shift: 5 PM - 5 AM (Thursday - Saturday and every other Wednesday)

+ Other varying night shift schedules dependent on availability


+ Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted

+ Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time

+ Must be comfortable working in a production environment with extensive use of hazardous chemicals such as acids, alkalis, and solvents

+ Must be able to wear appropriate PPE for lab and electro-chemical manufacturing environment

+ Must be comfortable with climbing up and down ladders, grasping, standing, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, carrying, crawling, and maneuvering in tight spaces

ITAR REQUIREMENTS:

+ To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
