Job Title: Inpatient Facility Coder – Remote (WA Residents Only)


Location (City, State): Renton, Washington (Remote for WA state residents only)

Job Description:


We’re seeking an experienced Inpatient Facility Coder to join our client’s growing Health Information Management (HIM) team.

The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of inpatient coding standards, MS-DRGs, and strong collaboration skills to partner with the CDI and revenue cycle teams.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient records
  • Ensure DRG accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines
  • Partner closely with Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) teams
  • Review edits and denials; take corrective action as needed
  • Adhere to strict productivity (2 charts/hr) and quality (95%+) benchmarks
  • Participate in coding audits, meetings, and compliance updates
  • Train with the HIM Manager and Team Lead for 1 week before coding live cases
  • Use systems including 3M360, EPIC, Microsoft Teams, and Outlook
  • Maintain ongoing education and CEUs for certification compliance
  • Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management (HIM)
  • Active RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification (required)
  • Minimum of 3 years of inpatient facility coding experience
  • Strong understanding of MS-DRGs, anatomy/physiology, disease processes, and medical terminology
  • Must reside in Washington State
  • Reliable high-speed internet and ability to work independently in a remote setting
  • Excellent communication, time management, and team collaboration skills
  • Additional Details:

  • Schedule: Sunday–Thursday or Tuesday–Saturday (must be open to 1 weekend day)
  • Shift Flexibility: Training and hours will be scheduled between 7:00 AM–6:00 PM PST
  • Facility Size: 228 beds; chart mix includes Med/Surg, OBGYN, Pediatrics, Oncology, Ortho, Neuro, ER admits
  • No trauma or transplant cases
  • Remote Role: Must be able to attend initial on-site orientation in WA and pick up equipment upon conversion
  • Equipment Provided: Addison Group provides equipment during contract phase
