Job description

Safe Fleet a leader in the truck equipment manufacturing industry, is looking for an Installation Technician to work as part of a team installing and repairing Automated Tarp Systems. 

 

This important team member partners with others to install Safe Fleet systems according to company processes, and operating manual instructions.

The Installation Technician performs basic wiring, does minor welding and operates industrial sewing machines to repair and produce completed products.



We are looking for a mechanical installation technician to work in our installation and service shop.

This full-time position is responsible for on premises tarp system repair and installation for the trucking industry.

The qualified candidate must be a high energy, physical individual with experience working on triaxle truck bodies and semi-trailers in a fast paced, labor intensive environment.

This individual will need to be motivated by a competitive industry and be results, detail and team-oriented.

 

Qualifications

• Proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools.

• Mechanical skills.

Must have an aptitude for using tools and being able to fix things.

• Ability to lift and position components for the purpose of installing rolling tarp and motorized cable driven tarp systems for the trucking industry.

• Proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools.

• Past experience installing metal pulleys and brackets, aluminum rail and bow assemblies, cabling, aluminum shafts and spring arms, small 2 hp winch and direct drive motors, vinyl panels, etc.

is preferred.

• Experience in tarp manufacturing and repair, tarping systems, forklift operation is not required but is definitely a plus.

• Valid driver license required.

• Competent with numbers and ability to measure accurately.

• Good communication skills, both written and verbal in English.

• Dependable; excellent attendance.

• High school diploma or a GED.

 

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

Math Ability:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Ability to read a tape measure.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
