*Position Title:*Instructor, Clean Jobs Bridge Program*Job Description:*POSITION TITLE: Instructor, Clean Jobs Bridge Program STATUS:Part Time DEPARTMENT: Workforce Development DIVISION: Academic Affairs CLASSIFICATION: Exempt UNION: Non-Union REPORTS TO: Workforce Skills Manager PLACEMENT: Adjunct Faculty HIRING RANGE: $50.00 - $150.00 per hour Competitive starting pay is dependent on education and experience.

Joliet Junior College is an AA/EO employer and strongly encourages applications from candidates who would enhance the diversity of its staff.*POSITION SUMMARY* This position offers an opportunity to instruct individuals in a work readiness course and clean energy basics bridge course focused on preparing students for success in an array of clean energy jobs and workplaces.

The bridge program is the first training component of the Climate & Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA) grant program.

Individual must prepare students for job-specific technical trainings.

Individual must adapt to new and changing situations and demonstrate a positive attitude and enthusiasm.

Demonstrates respect for students; understands learning styles and applies understanding to institution-related activities; demonstrates integrity and promotes diversity and open communications.

*ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES* 1.

Utilize a 12-week, 144-hour curriculum aligned with the Clean Jobs Curriculum Framework to conduct classes and demonstrations to teach principles, techniques, or methods in subjects such as basic computer skills, communication skills, customer service, life skills, job search, and workforce entry skills with a business/employer training approach.

2.

Guide and counsel students with adjustment for workforce or academic/basic skills problems.

Assist students in discerning a job-specific technical training pathway within the clean jobs fields using individual and group approaches and various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, interactive activities and work-based learning.

3.

Teach clean energy basics including topics such as energy, construction and electrical.

Familiarize students with clean energy jobs which may include solar, wind, building energy efficiency, and electric vehicle maintenance.

4.

Assign and review class work; record demonstrated competencies.

5.

Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs, learning styles, abilities, and interests.

6.

Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures.

Enforce administration policies and rules governing students and the Clean Jobs Curriculum Framework.

7.

Maintain Clean Jobs Curriculum Framework objectives for all lessons, modules, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.

8.

Identify the developmental needs of students through coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge and skills and how they can apply those skills in a clean energy jobs environment for successful employment.

9.

Perform related duties as assigned.

*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* 1.

Bachelor’s degree in education, solar, wind, construction, electrical, automotive or related clean energy field.

2.

Two (2) years of work experience.

3.

Knowledge of principles and methods for teaching and instruction for individuals and groups 4.

Familiarity with workforce preparation strategies, career and vocational education, or clean energy industry.

5.

Effective interpersonal, communication, time and project management and organizational skills.

6.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.

7.

Demonstrated commitment to the college’s core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.

*PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* 1.

Experience teaching essential employability skills.

2.

Knowledge in teaching or adult training in a business environment.

3.

English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.

4.

Demonstrated multicultural competence.
