General Statement
Montana State University seeks qualified individuals to provide non-tenurable level instruction and/or related functions.
Instructors are needed to teach classes depending upon need and available funding.
Applications are accepted on a continual basis (unless otherwise indicated) and will be maintained in pool for two years.
After two years, candidates will be notified to re-submit materials for continued consideration.
The department or program search committees or hiring authority will review and evaluate the submitted application materials.
Applicants will be notified if their application is being retained in the non-tenure track faculty hiring pool.
Appointments are on a part-time basis and vary in duration, a couple weeks, a semester or an academic year, depending on the specific needs of the department/program.
Salary is dependent on number of courses taught and duration.
We seek individuals who work professionally and effectively with diverse individuals, possess effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to contribute positively to the academic success of the students and the mission of Montana State University.
Duties and Responsibilities
We hope to attract applicants who can teach in a diverse University community and have demonstrated ability in helping students from diverse backgrounds succeed.
+ Teaching on-campus courses.
+ Advising, evaluating, and assisting students.
+ Curriculum and/or course development.
+ Participating in weekly faculty meetings.
+ Meeting regularly with, collaborating with, and evaluating peer leader if one is assigned to your section.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
+ Architectural Design Studios: A professional degree in Architecture or a demonstrated record of distinguished practice in architectural design OR a demonstrated record of distinguished teaching.
+ Architectural Structures: A professional degree in Architecture OR Architectural Engineering or Civil Engineering OR related field or a demonstrated record of distinguished practice and distinction in structural engineering.
+ Architectural Graphics: A professional degree in Architecture OR significant professional experience AND demonstrated record of accomplishment in architectural graphics; hand and/or digital.
+ Graduate Electives: A degree in the area of expertise OR significant professional experience in the area of expertise.
+ Professional Practice: licensed architect and demonstrated record of experience in a wide range of building project types.
+ Sustainability: Demonstrated experience in teaching and/or research in sustainability, Net Zero design, ecological design and the Living Building Challenge.
+ Building Construction: licensed architect or engineer with demonstrated record of experience in a wide range of building projects and phases.
+ Research Methods: A professional degree in Architecture OR a demonstrated record of distinguished practice in architectural design AND /OR research or a demonstrated record of distinguished teaching
+ Environmental Control Systems: A professional degree in Architecture OR a demonstrated record of accomplishment in environmental control systems
+ Demonstrated experience working with and engaging diverse students and colleagues within and outside the department
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
+ A post professional degree in Architecture (30 credit minimum).
+ Architectural registration
+ Professional engineering registration
+ A demonstrated ability to teach in multiple areas of the curriculum
+ A record of successful teaching accomplishments
+ A Ph.D. or a terminal degree in area of specialization
+ Prior experience in digital fabrication, the design/build profession or experience teaching design/build courses
+ A demonstrated record of experience with advanced computer applications in area of specialization
+ Professional Practice: substantial portfolio of recognized work
+ Sustainability: LEED Certification, membership in USGB Council
+ Building Construction: Demonstrated record of experience in both design and construction phases
+ Demonstrated commitment to student, faculty, and staff diversity.
