Founded in 1971 and situated in the greater Las Vegas metropolitan area, the College of Southern Nevada is the most ethnically diverse college in Nevada and the first to receive the HSI designation.

    Position Summary

  • The selected individual is required to teach in person, on multiple days, at our main campuses, learning or satellite centers during the morning, afternoon and evening.
  • Develop course syllabi and materials.
  • Evaluate mastery of student, program, and institutional learning outcomes.

    Participate in the development of formative and summative assessments and assessment instruments.
  • Maintain office hours to provide student advisement, participate in recruitment activities, and program/curriculum development.
  • Participate in School, Department, and Program meetings and activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by Chair for needs of the office, division, and institution.

  • Required Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or Administration of Justice from an accredited college/university.
  • Five (5) years of full-time practitioner experience in the criminal justice profession.
  • Practitioner experience within the last eight (8) years.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years’ full-time teaching experience at the college level in the criminal justice discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing curriculum, assessment plans, formative and summative assessments, assessment instruments, and conducting analysis of course and program assessment.
  • Practitioner experience within the last five (5) years.

  • Candidates will be required to do a teaching demonstration.

    Bargaining unit Faculty members hired are eligible for relocation expenses reimbursement in accordance with the College of Southern Nevada NFA Contract 2022-2025.

    Starting Salary Information

    Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of full-time equivalent teaching experience.

    For example, for an instructor with a Master’s degree the salary range would be $58,046 to $74,304 annually.

    The entire salary range is up to $89,166 annually with a Doctorate and 10 years’ experience.

    A maximum of 10 years of experience will be considered for the initial salary placement purposes.
