Position Description Summary The home campus for this position is Lock Haven with the expectation of serving a multi-campus University within the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.

About the Department: Recognized as leaders in accredited undergraduate nursing programs, Commonwealth University prepares future nurses for a wide range of careers in critical care, obstetrics, pediatrics, rehabilitation, trauma, home care, and other clinical specialties and case management.

The Department of Undergraduate Nursing offers an Associates of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing with pre-licensure and RN- BSN concentrations.

Duties The successful candidate will need to complete distance education training programs as made available by the University within two years of hire for the purpose of teaching in a multi-campus environment with remote teaching needs.

Qualifying Experience and Education (Minimum/Preferred) Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, plus 15 semester hours of graduate credit Three years experience as an instructor in an academic or clinical setting OR Master’s Degree in Nursing, plus 10 additional credits of graduate coursework from an accredited institution Four years experience as an instructor in either an academic or clinical setting Academic background and clinical expertise relevant to the position Active PA RN License through the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing is required.

Eligibility for PA RN licensure is required if a current PA license is not held.

The Associate’s of Science in Nursing position encompasses classroom and clinical teaching for first-year and second-year students at the Lock Haven campus.

The position may also require teaching in one of our other degree programs in either an on-campus or online environment based on need and faculty expertise.

The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service, and show potential for a productive research/scholarship program.

Professional development support is available to support ongoing research.

Commonwealth University faculty are expected to serve as academic advisors and mentors for its students.

Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree, must earn a Master’s Degree, in Nursing, within 5 years of employment.

Offers of employment are conditional, pending successful completion of the background clearances mandated by Act 153 of 2014 and Board of Governors Policy 2014-01-A: Protection of Minors.

In order to qualify for a provisional appointment, the Applicant Acknowledgement Consent Form, Provisional Hire Form, Pennsylvania State Police and Justifacts portion of the clearance process must be successfully completed prior to your start date.

The remaining PA Child Abuse History Clearance and FBI Clearance must be successfully completed and returned as soon as possible within the first 90 days of employment.
