INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN HQ Aero is currently recruiting for
INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN in
MESA, AZSUMMARY The position will involve hands-on instrumentation and equipment installations in the aircraft, utilizing accepted practices and instrumentation drawings.
Additionally, the role will require creating drawings and sketches of installations, as well as troubleshooting instrumentation wiring, hardware, and computer software.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Design, install, set up, operate, and maintain existing flight test aircraft computer systems, audio/video systems, and provide technical support of new instrumentation systems.
• Determine the parameters to be recorded and the optimal location and method for recording, based on high-level engineering requests and utilizing available design data.
• Create and check instrumentation drawings, including wiring diagrams, sketch data, photographic records, and installation drawings, to support flight test aircraft configuration control.
• Complete post-processing of flight test data for dissemination to the engineering department and support of engineering data requests.
• Apply and install strain gauges, using appropriate adhesives, soldering methods, and wiring.
• Calibrate instrumentation systems using resistance, pressure, force, length, temperature, current, voltage, and frequency standards.
• Use frequency counters and oscilloscopes to test, calibrate, and troubleshoot instrumentation installations and equipment.
• Install pressure measurement transducers and signal conditioning in pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and pitot-static systems.
• Perform leak checks, airspeed, and altitude calibration on aircraft and instrumentation pitot-static systems.
• Install and maintain nose boom and trailing cone instrumentation and hardware.
• Install, maintain, and calibrate accelerometers and associated signal conditioning.
• Install and calibrate position measuring devices.
• Install thermocouples using appropriate hardware, and install and maintain instrumentation, interphone/radio crew station, and equipment.
• Maintain calibration records and documentation.
• General aircraft maintenance and daily inspections as required.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy work area
• Other duties may be assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Perform duties as A&P mechanic, if qualified.
• Perform duties as aircraft instrumentation flight crew member, as required.
• Experience in National Instruments LabView.
• Experience in a PCM data systems.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Unigraphics experience is a plus.
• Travel may be required.
• Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical publications.
• Ability to use and maintain various pieces of ground support and test equipment as required.
• The ability to understand and follow instructions and the ability to concentrate are required.
• Excellent written and verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to get along with others or to be part of a team.
• Use MS Office software to generate reports and calculations to support instrumentation configurations and documentation.
• Access to Export Control Information required.
• Regular attendance at the worksite.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE • High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of years aircraft-related flight test instrumentation experience.
The ideal candidate would have experience in a flight test instrumentation group that was involved in designing, installing, gathering, and reducing flight test instrumentation data.
