We are seeking a highly motivated Lead ESB Developer to join our Integration Services team at First Horizon Bank.
As a key technical leader in our API and ESB modernization journey, you will play a critical role in supporting our legacy IBM-based Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) platform, while driving the migration to Apigee and modern cloud-native APIs.
This is a hands-on leadership role that combines development, design, troubleshooting, and mentoring responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and maintenance of services on the IBM ESB stack, including: IBM DataPower GatewayWebSphere Service Registry and Repository (WSRR)WebSphere Application Server (WAS) Collaborate with architects and application teams to sunset legacy integrations and support the migration to Google Apigee API GatewayDesign and maintain SOAP and RESTful web services, including handling WSDL, XSD, YAML, and OpenAPI specificationsBuild and enforce reusable patterns, governance, and security best practices across ESB and API layersSupport CI/CD deployment pipelines and release management processesMentor junior developers and provide technical guidance during peer reviews and troubleshooting sessionsParticipate in root cause analysis and production support, ensuring system stability and availabilityMaintain strong documentation and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Security, Infrastructure, and Application Development Required Skills & Experience
years of experience in middleware integration or enterprise services developmentHands-on expertise with IBM DataPower, WSRR, and WASStrong understanding of SOAP, REST, XML, XSLT, XSD, WSDL, YAML, and OpenAPI specificationsFamiliarity with TLS/SSL cert management, mutual auth, and integration security standardsProficient in troubleshooting and debugging service invocation issues across distributed systemsExperience with CI/CD tools (, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, XL Deploy, etc.)Strong scripting experience (, Shell, Bash, or Python)Experience working in Agile/Scrum environmentsSolid knowledge of Cloud technologies (, GCP, Azure, AWS)Familiarity with service versioning, throttling, fault handling, and other ESB patternsExcellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills Preferred Qualifications
