What Your Job Will Be Like:

Sandia National Laboratories’ Microsystems Engineering, Science and Applications (MESA) Center is seeking graduate student interns over the course of 1 or more academic semesters.

MESA interns engage with multiple scientific disciplines to produce functional, robust, integrated microsystems.

Our scientists, engineers, and researchers pursue advanced concepts that integrate not only electronics at the micro scale, but embody sensors, photonics, Micro-Electrical-Mechanical Systems (MEMS), and quantum components.

Students are offered hands-on, flexible, challenging, interesting, and cutting-edge research opportunities while being mentored by Sandia National Laboratories scientists and engineers.

On any given day, you will experience:

  • Qualifications We Require:

    You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

  • Earned bachelor's degree
  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 30 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience in a microelectronics fabrication techniques such as photolithography, dry etching, and chemical/physical vapor deposition
  • Experience in acquisition and analysis of semiconductor device parametric data
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate scientific results through peer-reviewed publications or conference presentations
  • Desire to contribute to microelectronics development efforts with national security relevance
