Position Summary The International Student & Scholar Services Graduate Assistant will assist the Director and Assistant Director in their daily duties at the International Student & Scholar Services.
The International Student & Scholar Services Representative reports to the Director International Student & Scholar Services.
Essential Functions
Oversee and maintain the student database and files.Assist international students prepare various applications to the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services, and U.S. Department of State.Develop liaisons with student organizations and departments to prepare and implement student activities or cultural events.Fully support the Director, Assistant Director and International Student Advisor during the preparation and implementation of the International Student Orientations in August and January before the start of the semesters.Maintain the International Student Newsletter, International Student Office CANVAS account, International Student Office website and any other media outlets.Drive UIW vehicles at no specific time of the day to include weekends especially during the arrival of international students.Help ensure the timely shipment of education and immigration documents to international destinations by using various shipping methods.Performs other duties as assigned by the Director and Assistant Director Qualifications Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Excellent customer service skills and telephone etiquette.Ability to multi-task and be detail oriented.Ability to communicate both written and verbally.Ability to exercise confidentiality when providing information to employees, students, student parents or visitors as outlined in departmental and university policies. Required Education Current UIW Graduate Student Required Work Experience Microsoft Office (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
Valid Texas Drivers License.
Preferred Qualifications Superior interpersonal and organizational skills.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations Must have a valid drivers license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW.
Work Hours
Monday through Friday 8 am – 5 pm (flexible schedule).Up to but not to exceed 20 hours per weekMust be willing to work weekends or after business hours for events or during orientation. Physical Demands Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.
