IT - Administrator (PeopleSoft DBA)

This position implements and maintains complex PeopleSoft databases, including installations, upgrades, and maintenance of PeopleSoft software and providing internal technical support with the ability to work unsupervised in a 24x7 environment.

 This position also requires considerable technical experience and knowledge of PeopleSoft (9.x) tables and data structures, and is responsible for managing and planning the overall maintenance and upgrade schedules of PS applications, will ensure that all patches, fixes and upgrades are fully researched and tested before being applied to the production environment, and will perform impact analysis across multiple applications where necessary.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Designs, implements and maintains complex systems with respect to modeling, quality control, access, auditing, development, etc.
  • Designs, implements and maintains reporting environments and data warehouses from base PeopleSoft data sources.
  • Researches and helps implement more advanced modules and features of the databases (e.g., replication, clustering, partitioning, etc.)
  • Develops and documents standards for proper PeopleSoft database administration.
  • Leads complex projects.
  • Controls and monitors database and application security and integrity.
  • Troubleshoots all database and/or application-related performance issues.
  • Monitors database/application transaction activity and utilization.
  • May assist Application Developers with performance tuning of SQL, queries and database objects.
  • May assist Application Developers in developing stored procedures and/or triggers.
  • Formulates and documents policies, procedures, and standards relating to PeopleSoft management.
  • Prescribes user access requirements based on analysis of system function and end user service needs.
  • Provide advice, support, and guidance to the programmers, developers and other DBAs regarding code review, design and problems.
  • Reviews database design and integration of systems and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements.
  • Installs and upgrades PeopleSoft systems.
  • Creates and maintains PeopleSoft Application Servers and Web Server.
  • Creates and maintains PeopleSoft Process Schedulers.
  • Provides 24x7 problem management support when needed.
  • Communication - be readily accessible in order to respond to all reactive calls/emails.

     Attend scheduled departmental and business unit calls/ meetings as required.

     Provide appropriate and timely feedback to all stakeholders.
  • Independent/effective output
  • Deliver high quantity/quality of work at all times.

     Request assistance when appropriate.

     Present thoughtful solutions for consideration.
  • Trouble Management.
  • Troubleshoot basic to complex problems taking full ownership of problem until resolved - manage trouble and report status to end users according to guidelines Special Projects.
  • Integrate into project team according to assignment.
  • Participate/lead internal meeting sessions providing project status updates and track open tasks for confirmed completion.
  • Provide back-up for IT team members as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Experience with the following: 
    • Oracle 10g
    • UNIX with shell scripting (IBM/AIX preferred)
    • Oracle programming/development (or related)
    • PeoplSoft 9.x implementation/administration
    • application server administration (Web Logic preferred)
    • Data Communication
    • MS SQL

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science.

Pre-Screen
