Under direction from the IT Infrastructure Support Manager, the Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the Life Flight Network infrastructure.

Candidate will be part of the infrastructure team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet business uptime requirements.

On-call time and travel will be required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on Computer Science or Management Information Systems, direct IT experience may be substituted year for year
  • Cisco, Azure, AWS, and VMware certifications preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting a multi node, multi-site, IP network
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
  • Windows Server experience preferred
  • SonicWALL and/or Fortinet experience preferred
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and SOX
  • GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Configure, maintain, and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS, and virtual appliances hosted on the private or public cloud)
  • VMware vSphere administration
  • Cisco Catalyst and Nexus administration
  • SonicWALL firewall and SMA administration
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Design, implement, and test disaster recovery solutions
  • Leverage automation tools to standardize network configurations
  • Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • IP Protocols (DHCP, SMTP, TCP/IP)
  • KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues, and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills with an ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize by levels of importance and urgency
  • Capable of quick and compliant troubleshooting and problem solving IT related issues
  • Must maintain up to date knowledge of IT best practices
  • Able to participate in an 24x7 on-call rotation occurring approximately 1 week per month to support operations outside of regular business hours
  • Willingness and ability to travel within Life Flight Network's service area as needed.

    Approximately 1 time per month.

    Typical trip duration 1-2 days
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (M365) Suite
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance, adhering to LFN drivers’ policy
