Department of Health and Welfare currently has an opening for an IT Network Engineer III position in our Central office in Boise.
This position provides critical network engineering and support services across a broad range of enterprise and datacenter networks serving Health and Welfare.
This position will manage, troubleshoot, and implement complex computer, data, voice and video networking infrastructure; including network administration, installation and maintenance of network infrastructure; provide leadership in the design, enhancement, implementation, and consultation on complex datacenter networks and enterprise networks, support, manage, maintain, troubleshoot and design networks; perform related work.
This position will work as part of the network team.
The selected individual must possess an in-depth knowledge of a wide range of advanced network technologies and operating practices in order to manage and maintain 24/7/365 Network operations.
This position will administer advanced Network management systems, manage network performance, troubleshoot network problems, and coordinate and implement expanded, new, and upgraded networks across the State.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
+ Works with customers to understand and explain business and technical issues in managed enterprise environment.
+ Provides hands-on support and management of statewide Network operations to deliver mission critical Network services to a diverse customer base on a 24/7/365 basis.
+ Supports Network Operations on a 24/7/365 basis that may include: deployments, infrastructure upgrades, hardware rollouts, troubleshooting, administration, and other related Network operation functions.
+ Configures, upgrades, installs, troubleshoots, and manages network switches, routers, optical multiplexing devices, and other associated network devices.
+ Undertakes detailed network designs used to support a given technology initiative or program.
+ Develops detailed network diagrams and plans to support existing networks, or network development and enhancements.
+ Troubleshoots network problems utilizing a variety of network management software tools and equipment.
+ Works as part of a project team to design, develop and implement networks to support a wide range of systems and functionality.
+ Monitors and reports on network performance, availability.
+ Assists in, or leads the planning of network enhancements, maintenance and capacity expansion including budget development and forecasting.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

+ Considerable knowledge of current LAN, WAN or SD-WAN networks that support voice, data, video and wireless client connections.
Typically gained by at least four years of work experience with LAN, WAN or SD-WAN technologies in a medium to large business environment AND by possession of a professional vendor certifications in router, switch or SD-WAN technologies.
Experience must be within the last six years.
(Definitions: LAN = Local Area Network, WAN = Wide Area Network, SD-WAN = Software Defined Wide Area Network).
+ Experience planning, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting networks across a wide range of network technologies; resolving network problems; working with end users to develop and implement information technology solutions for a wide variety of uses in a business and enterprise environment.
Typically gained by at least four years of full-time work experience where planning, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting networks across a wide range of network technologies, and supporting a large business network was part of your primary job responsibilities.
Experience must be within the last two years.
+ Experience with Software Defined Networking (SD-WAN) or in both local and wide-area network management, administration, design, implementation and troubleshooting.
Typically gained by at least four years of full-time work experience where network management, administration, design, implementation and troubleshooting in a large LAN/WAN or SD-WAN environment supporting a large organization, was part of your primary job responsibilities.
Experience must be within the last two years.
+ Experience with physical layer network topologies including experience in the design and implementation.
Typically gained by at least four years of full-time work experience (within the last four years) where working with physical layer network topologies and undertaking the design and implementation of these topologies were part of their primary responsibilities.

+ Experience in wireless network design, implementation, troubleshooting and management in large-scale wireless deployments.
Typically gained by at least four years of full-time work experience (within the last four years) where designing, documenting and implementing a large business network were part of their primary responsibilities.

+ Experience as a technical lead implementing or supporting network projects and support teams.
