ITSPEC (INFOSEC/INFOSEC) (TITLE 32) Job Opening In Charlotte – Now Hiring Air National Guard Units


Job description

Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a ITSPEC (INFOSEC/INFOSEC) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D218P01 and is part of the NC ANG, National Guard (145 CMN/ Position Nos.

83307934).

Responsibilities As an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), GS-2210-11, you will serve as the Wing Information Assurance Manager; apply Information Technology (IT) security principles, methods, and security products to protect and maintain the availability, integrity, confidentiality, and accountability of information system resources and information processed throughout the system's life cycle; establish and publish base-wide policy to manage the INFOSEC (also known as COMPUSEC) program and provides advice and guidance in its implementation and in procedures used in the development and operation of systems; assist all base organizations in the development of their individual INFOSEC program; disseminate information and ensures computer security practices are adhered to by all functional areas; review, analyze, and validate certification and accreditation (C&A) packages; continuously identify and analyze threats and vulnerabilities to the information systems to maintain an appropriate level of protection; manage the Network Security Program; maintain required information assurance certification IAW DoD 8570.01-M, Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, Clinger Cohen Act of 1996; implement and advise on IT security policies and procedures to ensure protection of information transmitted to the installation, among organizations on the installation, and from the installation using Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), the World Wide Web, or other communications modes; utilize current and future multi-level security products collectively to provide data integrity, confidentiality, authentication, non-repudiation, and access control of the LAN; Report to MAJCOM, Air Force Communications Agency, National Security Agency, and Air Force Computer Emergency Response Team all incidents involving viruses, tampering, or unauthorized system entry; serve as the Communications Security (COMSEC) Manager for all cryptographic activities including managing the Cryptographic Access Program (CAP); formulate and develop communications security criteria and requirements for inclusion in mobility, contingency, and exercise plans; maintain accountability for sensitive cryptographic materials and related COMSEC information; oversee issuance of COMSEC materials; maintain COMSEC inventory; prepare and evaluate written plans for emergency actions and ensures personnel are fully qualified in the execution of plans; investigate COMSEC security incidents to determine the possibility of compromise to COMSEC materials and ensures documentation and reporting to appropriate channels; implement and manage the Electronic Key Management System (EKMS) program which includes system configuration and operation of the Local Management Device, Data Transfer Device, and Key Processor; initialize the system, perform system backups, determine operator access, and control functions (privilege management), reload and configure the operating system's parameters; adhere to management control plan requirements by conducting self-inspection and staff assistance visits; resolve identified discrepancies; and perform other duties as assigned.

May be required to travel with overnight stays to attend training and or conferences.

May be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.

Work requires some physical exertion and recurring activities such as bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, and lifting of moderately heavy objects like computer boxes or peripheral computer equipment.

Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: Enlisted (MSgt/E7 and below) Minimum Requirements: Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process.

Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization.

Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls.

Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment.

Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: For the GS-5 level, a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree may be substituted for the experience requirements.

At the GS-7 level, one full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement.

At the GS-9 level, a masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree may be substituted.

At the GS-11 level, a Ph.D. or equivalent, or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
