Position Summary
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is currently seeking motivated Lab Assistants to join Dr. Singh’s research team at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.
Dr. Singh’s lab focuses on decoding the epigenetic basis of ocular and metastatic cancers as well as age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
This is a unique opportunity to be trained in cutting-edge biomedical research with direct impact on future diagnostics and therapeutics.
What You'll Do
Support MD students in ongoing research projects focused on uveal melanoma, cancer epigenetics, and age-related macular degeneration (AMD)Receive hands-on training in epigenetics and molecular biology techniques under the supervision of MD or PhD students, with the goal of independently performing experiments over timeCoordinate lab time with MD/PhD mentors to ensure efficient training and project progressAssist with literature reviews and maintain accurate research databasesLearn and apply experimental design, data analytics, and research methodologyCollaborate with researchers from diverse scientific backgroundsContribute to scientific writing and publication efforts, when appropriateParticipate in cell culture work, ensuring the proper growth and maintenance of various cell lines, spheroids, and organoidsApply learned techniques and knowledge to independent research projects once adequately trained
