Lab Assistant (Phlebotomist) Part Time



Job description

Summary:

The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for performing phlebotomy functions on pediatrics through adult populations served.

The incumbent will prepare and package all samples for testing, including management of orders/results reconciliation within hospital electronic health record.

The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or Mercy proprietary information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs specimen collection, follows established test protocols for proper specimen requirements.
  • Computer skills essential with order entry and report generation.
  • Distributes processed specimens using computer systems to ensure timely completion of laboratory tests.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement initiatives.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
