Job Title: Laboratory Sciences Professional (Entry – Intermediate Level)

Position: #00835346 – Requisition: #36917

Job Summary:

The Moore Lab focuses on the intersection of coagulation, fibrinolysis, and inflammation in lung diseases, with both basic science and translational research components.

The Research Services Laboratory Professional will play a key role in foundational projects with real potential to impact future therapeutic development.

The assistant will gain hands-on experience in both bench science—performing biochemical and functional assays of clotting and fibrinolysis pathways—and translational research, including the collection of biospecimens from patients and direct interaction with clinical collaborators.

Projects in the lab range from studying why fibrinolytic therapy fails in patients with pleural infections, to investigating how macrophage-derived factor XIII-A influences lung repair after injury using advanced models like live-imaged of cell culture on decellularized lung scaffolds.

This is a rare opportunity to be involved in research that spans from molecule to bedside, in a supportive academic environment where your contributions will be instrumental in shaping the lab’s direction and impact within the university and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform experiments such as ELISA, quantitative PCR, microscopy, fibrinolytic functional assays, and Western blotting.

  • Conduct sterile cell culture, including primary cell and cell line maintenance.

  • Process tissue samples for downstream applications including imaging and histology.

  • Support development and troubleshooting of new experimental protocols.

  • Conduct basic quantitative and qualitative analysis of experimental data.

  • Screen and consent eligible patients for research studies under IRB-approved protocols.

  • Collect and process human biospecimens (e.g., blood, pleural fluid, lavage samples).

  • Perform chart reviews and extract relevant clinical data for study databases.

  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with regulatory and institutional guidelines.

  • Assist with IRB submissions, amendments, and renewals.

  • Maintain regulatory documentation and study binders.

  • Ensure compliance with study protocols and ethical research practices.

  • Attend and present (optional) data at internal lab meetings.

  • Option to present research at local symposia or national/international conferences.

  • Contribute to figure generation for manuscripts and grant applications.
  • Work Location:

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado.
