Position Summary
The Lead CNC Programmer (1st Shift) will be responsible for programming, optimizing, and overseeing machining operations in support of high-precision plastics injection mold making.
This role requires advanced expertise with Unigraphics NX11 (or newer) as well as strong leadership skills to guide programming efforts, improve processes, and collaborate effectively across teams.
Key Responsibilities
Create, optimize, and maintain CNC programs for both prismatic and complex geometries.
Determine feeds, speeds, and tooling selection to ensure efficient machining processes.
Review designs for manufacturability and recommend improvements as needed.
Program and support:
3-, 4-, and 5-axis vertical and horizontal milling machines
2-axis lathes with C-axis and live tooling
Lead high-speed machining initiatives, including the design and manufacture of electrodes, fixtures, jigs, and mold frames.
Oversee work-holding and part-mounting methodologies to maximize efficiency.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to CNC operators and toolmakers.
Partner with engineers and project teams to ensure accuracy, quality, and on-time delivery.
Qualifications
5–15 years of CNC programming experience, ideally within plastics injection mold making.
Advanced proficiency in Unigraphics NX (NX11 or newer strongly preferred).
Demonstrated experience programming multi-axis machining centers.
In-depth knowledge of machining strategies, tooling selection, and process optimization.
Strong analytical, mathematical, and spatial reasoning abilities.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows file structures and related computer applications.
