Structural Engineering Technical Lead

Due to continued growth in 2025, Boswell is offering a unique opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer to be Technical Lead for our Structural Team in our South Hackensack, NJ Headquarters.

In this role you will work closely with our clients while leading & mentoring a team of Project Managers, Design Engineers, Draftsman, and support staff.

This position will directly report to the Head of our Highway Design and Structural Engineering Department.



Key Responsibilities:

+ Perform structural analysis, design, and assessment of building structures

+ Work closely with our new and reoccurring clients in preparation of upcoming projects

+ Prepare detailed design calculations, technical reports, and assessment reports

+ Lead subordinate staff on a day-to-day basis

+ Ensure satisfactory performance of staff on specific projects

+ Develop plans and specifications in accordance with client requirements

+ Serve as Project Manager on select project assignmentsandmonitor status of multiple projects

+ Assist in Preparation of proposals and qualification statements for new contracts

+ Manage client relationships and engagement with the clients

+ Identify new clients and business development opportunities

+ Work collaboratively with other departments and engineers on projects with infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects

+ Assist as needed with inspection and design which requires both field and office work

+ Lead and Mentor engineers and Project Managers

+ Remain current in latest engineering techniques and practices

+ Attend meeting outside of working hours if needed

+ Adhere to internal standards, policies and procedures

Minimum Requirements :

+ Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Civil or Structural Engineering with an active Professional Engineer (P.E.) License in either NJ or NY (both are preferred)

+ 15+ years of experience in structural design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and overhead sign structures.



+ Significant experience working with public agencies like Port Authority of NY and NJ, NJDOT, NJTA, NYC Transit, NYCDOT, and NYSDOT

+ Experience working with New Jersey counties and municipalities is preferred

+ Comprehensive knowledge of codes, standards, and design guidelines (AASHTO, AREMA, ACI, AISC, NYC/NJ standards)

+ Proficiency with structural analysis and modeling software

+ Familiarity with technologies such as BIM

+ Experience with load rating, inspection, and rehabilitation of existing structures

+ Excellent verbal and written communication, including technical report preparation and editing

+ Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage across departments and disciplines

+ Current US work eligibility is required.

The salary range below is applicable for the job and location associated with this position.

Compensation will vary based on specific relevant experience, education, certifications, skill levels, geographic location and other compensable factors.



Salary Range: $160,000.00 - $175,000.00 / Year
