Overview We're a fast-moving startup seeking an experienced UI Artist to join our team and help shape the visual interface of our mobile game.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mobile game UI/UX, particularly with real-time combat systems and complex gameplay mechanics.
This role requires someone who thrives in a startup environment-comfortable with ambiguity, rapid iteration, and wearing multiple hats while maintaining high-quality output
Responsibilities - Design and implement intuitive, visually appealing UI elements for mobile platforms, with focus on touch-based interactions
- Create UI systems that support real-time combat, party/character switching, and complex mobile game mechanics
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive UI style guide that ensures visual consistency across all game features
- Collaborate with game designers to create UI flows that enhance gameplay and user experience
- Optimize UI assets for mobile performance while maintaining visual quality
- Prototype and iterate on UI concepts based on user testing and team feedback
- Work closely with developers to ensure proper implementation of UI designs
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities and pivot designs based on evolving game requirements
- Contribute to multiple areas beyond UI when needed (marketing materials, pitch decks, etc.)
Requirements - 3+ years of experience as a UI Artist in mobile game development
- Strong portfolio demonstrating mobile game UI work, particularly for games with real-time combat systems
- Proven experience working in startup or small studio environments
- Experience with games featuring party systems, character switching, or similar complex mechanics
- Proficiency in industry-standard tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Unity/Unreal UI systems)
- Deep understanding of mobile UX principles, touch interfaces, and screen size considerations
- Ability to create and maintain comprehensive style guides and design systems
- Self-directed work style with the ability to identify problems and propose solutions independently
- Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate design decisions
- Comfort with rapid prototyping and iterative development processes
- Ability to make decisions with incomplete information and adjust course as needed
Preferred Qualifications - Experience working on games similar to Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact, or other action RPGs with real-time combat
- Knowledge of Asian mobile game design trends and monetization UI patterns
- Experience with gacha systems, character collection, or equipment management interfaces
- Familiarity with gesture-based controls and haptic feedback design
- Understanding of UI animation and motion design principles
- Experience leading UI initiatives or mentoring other artists
- Track record of shipping products in resource-constrained environments
- Experience building processes and pipelines from scratch

Base Salary Range: $106,000 - $159,000 USD.
