Scope of Job
The Electrical and Computer Engineering ( ECE ) Department at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley ( UTRGV ) invites applications for a non-tenure track lecturer position in electrical and computer engineering.

The position is a three-year appointment, renewable based on favorable annual evaluations.

This position with the ECE Department will be mainly based on the Brownsville campus but will require travel between theEdinburg and Brownsville campuses if needed by the department.

Candidates with significant industrial experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

UTRGV faculty will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to student success and to advancing the university, college, and program missions.

Department Background:
The ECE Department has twenty-three faculty members and offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.

The department also offers a program of graduate study leading to the Master of Science in Electrical Engineering degree.

The department serves more than 900 students including more than 800 undergraduate students.

The department is also developing a program of graduate study leading to the Master of Science in Computer Engineering degree.

It is expected that doctoral programs will be developed, which should substantially expand faculty lines and student enrollment in the coming years.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering degree or higher degree in electrical and computer engineering or related area from an accredited university.

Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
All candidates are expected to have a solid commitment to teaching and may also advise students and supervise or develop teaching laboratories.

All excellent candidates will be considered, with particular interest in those who demonstrated full-time teaching excellence in an electrical and computer engineering program.

Of particular interest is a candidate who can teach 1) Tele/Digital Communication, 2) Electric Power/energy, and 3) microprocessor/microcontroller and VLSI but also electronics, electric circuits, digital systems, assembly language, C++/python languages, and electrical and computer engineering labs; however, excellent candidates in any technical area within the electrical and computer engineering field will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral degree preferred.

Industry or teaching experience is also preferred.

Prefer a broad background with the ability to teach across most of the undergrad curriculum.

UTRGV is a distributed institution.

As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

Work is performed primarily in a general office environment.

This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program ( ORP ) instead of TRS , subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
