Department of Biological Sciences Temporary Faculty Pool
The Department
Cal Poly Humboldt is known for its outstanding Biological Sciences programs.
The strengths of our programs have been noted in studies by the National Science Foundation, and the Dryfus, Keck, and Welch Foundation.
We offer extensive research opportunities for both our undergraduate and graduate students.
We offer four undergraduate majors - Biology, Botany, Marine Biology, and Zoology.
Biology majors can elect to specialize in one of five emphases - General Biology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Ecology, Microbiology, and Science Education.
We also offer a graduate program (.

Our programs emphasize hands-on learning and personal interaction with faculty members.
Many of our courses take advantage of the outstanding natural environment surrounding Cal Poly Humboldt.
We have excellent facilities including the marine laboratory in Trinidad; our ocean-going research vessel, the North Wind; biotechnology laboratory; greenhouses; Vertebrate Museum; Herbarium; scanning and transmission electron microscopes; Humboldt Natural History Museum; and the College Core Facility.

The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:
$5,507 - $6,677
$6,221 - $13,224
$6,825 - $14,523
Appointees are typically placed at the beginning of the range.
The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.

The Wiyot people call the area Goudi'ni (over in the woods).
The Cal Poly Humboldt campus in Northern California is in close proximity to several thriving Native American tribes and communities.
Humboldt currently has the largest percentage of Native American students in the CSU system and has over 30 Native American faculty and staff, many from local area California Indian tribes.
Cal Poly Humboldt is home to a number of leading Native American programs including the Indian Tribal Education and Personnel Program (ITEPP) and the Indian Natural Resource, Science and Engineering Program (INRSEP).
There are also many opportunities at Humboldt to conduct research, teaching and community work on Native American history and cultures, with resources in Special Collections at the Cal Poly Humboldt library.
The Humboldt Room in the Library has fantastic resources for tribally focused archive materials from the region.
Humboldt strives to build a supportive and inclusive Native community and engages with Native communities through initiatives and opportunities like the annual California Indian Big Time, Indigenous People's Week, and a chance to network with other faculty and staff as part of the Cal Poly Humboldt Council of American Indian Faculty and Staff.
