Overview
Under the supervision of the Library Operations and Circulation Manager, the Graphic Design Student Worker will provide marketing ideas and graphic design support for Library Operations/Public Services, Outreach Team displays and special events; including but not limited to other work areas within the library.
Education :
-Must be a current Penn College student.
(Minimum)
Experience :
-Experience or relevant coursework with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator) and Microsoft Office software.

-Experience with se-up/teardown of displays and events.
(Minimum)
-Possess the knowledge of basic program marketing and/or graphics design experience (Minimum)
Abilities and Skills:
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks simultaneously with frequent work interruptions; meeting deadlines.

-Attention to detail.
(Minimum) -Ability to use Adobe Creative Suite to design posters, flyers, and publications.
(Minimum)
-Ability to use computer including Microsoft Office software.
(Minimum)
-Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instruction.
(Minimum)
-Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
(Minimum)
-Self-motivated and assertive, able to work independently with limited supervision and on own initiative.

-Must be well-organized, responsible, and a quick learner.

-Ability to use and troubleshoot microcomputer applications that apply to the position.

-Assist with creating digital and print advertising and publications including social media ads, brochures, programs, posters, logos, and other promotional materials for review and approval for the library using Adobe Creative Suite.

-Assist Library Outreach Team and staff with creative promotional ideas, in coordination with Public Relations & Marketing for planning, marketing, and implementing library exhibits, displays and events within the library building.

-Assist library staff with set-up and tear-down of library displays and events.

-Perform basic receptionist tasks for the Library Administration area as needed.
(Essential)
-Assist library staff with maintaining library bulletin boards and kiosks as needed.
(Essential)
-Serve on multiple library service desks; providing coverage and assistance in other work areas of the library as needed.

-Perform general circulation operations using established library guidelines and procedures.
(Essential)
-Maintain an accurate and organized filing and retrieval system; creating new file folders as needed.
(Essential)
-Complete job responsibilities and assigned tasks with attention to detail and in a timely manner.
(Essential)
-Attend customized library customer service training when scheduled.
(Essential)
Physical Standards:
-Must be able to move book trucks, shelve materials, some lifting, pushing, and pulling of displays, printer supplies, and other marketing materials and supplies, not to exceed 35 lbs.
-Must be able to move around campus to deliver materials to college-wide departments.
Special Job Features:
-Work as-needed to be determined on a semester to semester basis.
-Schedule will vary depending on library needs and student’s academic schedule.
-Must wear a Penn College-provided shirt while on duty.
-This position may be subject to a background check.
