Zolon is a prime contractor with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), supporting a 5-year initiative for software development, business intelligence, ERP, and infrastructure optimization.
We are seeking a Linux Systems Engineer to join our Operations team.
This role involves supporting federal government operations in managing multiple platforms in a cloud-enabled DevOps environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, Amazon Linux).
Manage user accounts, permissions, file systems, and system resources.
Monitor system performance, capacity, and resource utilization.
Troubleshot complex system issues and outages, working with vendor support, performing incident root cause analysis.
Implement and maintain system backup and disaster recovery solutions.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations and procedures, and runbooks.
Design, deploy, and manage infrastructure in AWS (EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, CloudFormation, Lambda).
Some knowledge supporting and maintaining Azure cloud resources (Virtual Machines, Storage, Networking, Azure AD).
Implement cloud security best practices and compliance controls.
Experiencing developing automation scripts using Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
Knowledge of implementing system provisioning and patching systems using Ansible.
Proficiency in system performance tuning and troubleshooting
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of Linux patch management and upgrade experience.
Manage security remediation in accordance with federal security requirements.
Coordinate maintenance windows with stakeholders and minimize system downtime
Familiarity using tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, and Confluence.
Track and report on patch compliance metrics
Support security audits, vulnerability assessments to ensure our systems are secure.
Strong command-line proficiency and shell scripting (Bash, Python).
Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiar with Terraform, Ansible, or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
Experience working on federal government contracts.
Familiarity with federal security standards (FISMA, NIST 800-53, FedRAMP).
Experience with container technologies (Kubernetes).
Ability to optimize system performance based on monitoring data and metrics.
Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents quickly and effectively, and conduct post-incident and outage review.
Deep understanding of Linux system architecture, kernel, and system services.
Clearance: Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance
