Job description

Summary Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Operations Support, Immediate Office of the Executive Assistant Commissioner, Mission Support Division.

Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

Responsibilities This position starts at a salary of $84,601.00 (GS-11, Step 1) to $131,826.00 (GS-12, Step 10) with promotion potential to $131,826.00 (GS-12 Step 10).

While serving as a Logistics Management Specialist, your duties will include: Overseeing cradle-to-grave involvement for the Agency's logistics and inventory management program to include planning for large purchases, forecasting future EAC business and property needs.

Managing the OS/EAC Headquarters Supply Room and coordinating the issuance of equipment and imagining.

Finalizing monthly invoices and ensuring appropriate forms are completed for Personnel Equipment.

Performing supply research for new and unique suppliers and resolving complex supply issues and actions.

Conducting records management and producing various fleet reports.

Bargaining Unit: This is a bargaining unit covered position, represented under the National Treasury Employees Unions - NTEU.

For local chapter contact information see Chapter Websites - National Treasury Employees Union - NTEU Qualifications GS-11 Experience: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Participating in inventory management and assisting the local property officer and inventory taker.

Entering and reviewing personal property records in Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP).

Compiling inventory records to be used for analysis and long and short-term supply needs projection.

Collecting data to report on the status of funds, identified conflicting requirements, achieving set goals and resource priorities.

GS-12 Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Overseeing inventory management and serving as the local property officer and inventory taker.

Ensuring the accuracy of personal property records in Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP).

Performing supply research for new and unique suppliers and to resolving complex supply issues and actions.

Identifying deficiencies in the inventory and inventory practices, and projecting long and short-term supply needs.

Projecting the status of funds for purchases, resolving conflicting requirements, setting goals, and prioritizing of resources.

GS-11 Education Substitution: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or an equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M (if related) from an accredited college or university, may be substituted for experience at the GS-11 grade level.

Such education must demonstrate the skills necessary to do the work.

Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise three years of graduate study.

If that information is not available, use 54 semester or 81 quarter hours.

GS-11 Combining Education and Experience: To combine your education and experience, you must convert each to a percentage, and then add the percentages.

The combined total of your percentage of education and experience must equal at least 100% in order to qualify.

If your education is currently described in quarter hours, convert the quarter hours into semester hours by multiplying the quarter hours by the fraction 2/3.

To calculate your percentage of graduate education, divide the number of graduate semester hours in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level, by 18 (1 year of graduate study = 18 semester hours).

To determine your percentage of qualifying experience, you must divide your total number of months of qualifying experience by the required number of months of experience.

Add your percentages of education and experience.

The two percentages must total at least 100%.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 10/24/2025.

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
