**Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):**

$33.400 - $41.740 - $46.760

**This is an LVN float pool position that services the following Sharp Rees-Stealy locations: San Diego Main, Santee, Otay Ranch, Frost Street North (Kearny Mesa), and Scripps Ranch.**

**What You Will Do**
Urology is a procedural based, high acuity department.

Assists patients, staff and physicians as needed to maintain a high level of efficiency of operations and customer service while providing quality care to a designated patient population.

Serves as a technical nursing expert for the department, including ability to safely assist/perform a multitude of highly skilled procedures with the providers in office as well as autonomously per guidelines and written physician orders.

**Required Qualifications**

+ H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
+ California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - CA Board of Vocational Nursing & Psychiatric Technicians -REQUIRED
+ AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Other : Successful completion of LVN/LPN program.
+ 1 Year LVN experience in related clinical area.
+ Ambulatory care experience.
+ ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association -PREFERRED
+ Vocational Nurse IV Therapy/Blood Withdrawal Certification - Various-Employee provides certificate -PREFERRED

**Essential Functions**

+ Clinical SkillsDemonstrates clinical knowledge and skill in assigned area and within scope of practice.Fully successful in performing/assisting with all tests and procedures in assigned department.May act as a clinical resource for assigned area.Administers medications safely and accurately per guidelines and written order.

Ensures verification by licensed person and documentation of all medications administered including two (2) patient identifier verification.

Assists with Medical Assistant medication verification in immediate area.

No medication errors.Able to prepare patient for examination or procedure.

Obtains complete and accurate consent for procedures/surgery.

Prepares and labels biopsies in a thorough and accurate manner.Accurately documents patient care per protocol.Partners with physicians to continuously learn and expand clinical knowledge base.Listens to patients, collects pertinent information, recognizes the urgency of the patient's problem and routes to physicians.

Returns phone calls according to physician instruction.

May schedule patient appointments.In partnership with physician, provides specific educational material and individual teaching.Uses universal precautions and demonstrates knowledge of infection control policies and procedures.Provides assistance to PSRs in resolving issues related to front desk responsibilities including scheduling and telephone management.

Acts as a positive role model and ensures appropriate service delivery.Participates in clinical projects as directed by the physician or manager.Department specific requirements:

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**

+ Skills as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse.
+ Ability to prepare patients for examinations, tests, or treatments and explain procedures.
+ Ability to observe patients, charting and reporting changes in patients' conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment, and taking any necessary action.
+ Ability to collect samples, such as blood, urine, or sputum from patients, and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.
+ Assures quality of care by adhering to professional standards, healthcare organization policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards; maintaining cooperative relationships among healthcare team members.
