Management and Program Analyst Job Opening In Washington – Now Hiring Customs and Border Protection


Job description

Summary Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Cargo & Conveyance Security Directorate, Cargo Security & Control Division, located in Washington, D.C. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

Responsibilities In this position, you will strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security functions by developing policies, conducting special studies, and providing technical assistance.

This position starts at a salary of $120,579.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $156,755.00 (GS-13, Step 10) .

Typical duties include: Directing, implementing, coordinating, and overseeing a major segment of an agency-wide mission or administrative program Providing technical assistance and direct support to management staff in all matters relating to the application of planning systems and management programs to meet mission requirements Planning, organizing and directing team study or work and persuades or negotiates effectively with management to accept and implement recommendations where the proposals involve substantial agency resources, require extensive changes in established procedures, or may be in conflict with the desires of the activities under study Planning, developing and coordinating planning management through briefings, presentations and conferences for executive management GS Salary: Visit this link to view the locality pay tables by geographic area.

Qualifications Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Planning and conducting a variety of authoritative, comprehensive, complex, and sensitive projects and studies Developing policies, issuances and directives Designing and administering planning and controls for submission of data, including forming the basis of budget and program resource requests and decisions Planning, developing and coordinating planning management through briefings, presentations and conference for executive management Developing a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of complex short and long-range goals of the organization NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 10/27/2025.

Background Investigation: U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is a federal law enforcement agency that requires all applicants to undergo a thorough background investigation prior to employment in order to promote the agency's core values of vigilance, service to country, and integrity.
