Job Summary
The Manager, Data Engineering & Architecture leads the design and development of scalable, secure data solutions on Azure, including Data Lake, Databricks, Synapse, and Data Factory.
This hands-on role manages a team of engineers, partnering with business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust data architectures that support analytics and strategic decisions.
The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with leadership skills and a strong focus on operational excellence, data governance, and continuous improvement.
Job Duties
- Lead and manage a team of data engineers and developers responsible for building and maintaining scalable, modern data architecture using Azure-based technologies (Data Lake, Databricks, Synapse, ADF, etc.).
(Essential) - Oversee the development and ongoing optimization of the enterprise data warehouse and data pipelines to support business intelligence, analytics, and reporting needs.
(Essential) - Ensure data quality by applying effective data quality controls and utilizing data observability techniques.
(Essential) - Partner with business leaders and the BI team to align data platform capabilities with strategic organizational goals.
(Essential) - Collaborate with stakeholders, analysts, and cross-functional teams to define data requirements, model data sources, and deliver well-structured, high-quality solutions.
(Essential) - Define and enforce best practices in data engineering, data governance, metadata management, security, and compliance (e.g., SOX, SOD, audit logging).
(Essential) - Coordinates team member selection and development and ensures team members comply with appropriate policies and procedures.

- Ensure the reliability, integrity, and performance of data systems, and implement ongoing enhancements to increase scalability, quality, and accessibility.
- Develop and maintain technical and architectural documentation to support knowledge transfer and long-term sustainability of data systems.
- Provide hands-on guidance and mentorship to team members, supporting career development, performance management, and a culture of innovation and accountability.
- Support the evaluation and integration of third-party data sources, APIs, and tools as needed.
- Contribute to the development of enterprise-wide data governance frameworks and promote data literacy across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in in Data Management, Information Technology, Computer Science or related (Required)
- 6 years in of related work experience in data architecture, data management & development (Required)
- 6 years in of experience in database technologies - SQL Server, Oracle, SAP, etc.
(Required) - 2 years in leadership experience and direct oversight of team members in a medium-large, diverse organization (Required)
- 3 years in of experience with modern data platforms using Azure Functions, Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse (Preferred)
- 3 years in of experience with scripting languages – Python, SQL, Scala, etc.
(Preferred) - Hands-on design and development experience with multiple data technologies and approaches
- Familiarity with data exploration/data visualization tools like Domo, Tableau or Power BI
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical language and communicate concepts and problems into understandable terms
- Prior experience in manufactured housing or real estate industry (Preferred)
- Prior experience with NetSuite, SAP, and/or Salesforce (Preferred)
- Advanced knowledge of database development and data management technologies, application development & data integration technologies
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with and advise senior leadership
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Prior knowledge or experience with Medallion Architecture, Data Lake House, Data Lake, Delta Lake, Data Warehouse, etc.
