Overview

About the Role

Under the direction of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) / Vice President of Information Technology, the Manager of Cybersecurity Monitoring & Response plays a key role in safeguarding the hospital’s digital infrastructure against threats that may compromise the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of University Hospital’s information systems.

This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive procedures for monitoring, threat detection, response, remediation, and recovery of information system security events, and compliance and adherence to relevant regulations and guidelines such as HIPAA and NIST SP 800‐53 standards.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Identifies University Hospital cybersecurity policy and control violations and compliance violations in accordance with regulations and standards including HIPAA, PCI‐DSS, NIST, and other applicable mandates.
  • Operates and monitors core security controls such as Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), and Vulnerability Management tools.
  • Utilizes PowerShell and Python scripting to support automation and integration of Security Orchestration Automation and Response (SOAR) platforms, including Azure Conditional Access Policy development.
  • Works with UH management and stakeholders to create, document, and follow Incident Response Operating Procedures for systems and services.
  • Collaborate with the CISO and others to align cybersecurity efforts with institutional goals and defend against current and emerging threats.
  • Conducts security assessments and stakeholder interviews to identify regulatory requirements (HIPAA, HITECH, PII) and ensure secure system design and implementation.
  • Performs Business Impact Analysis (BIA) on IT systems to support disaster recovery planning and documentation.
  • Qualifications

    What You’ll Bring

    Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

    Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in cybersecurity engineering, information security operations, or a related field, preferably in a healthcare or highly regulated environment.

    Strong understanding of network protocols (DNS, TCP/IP, NMAP) and both server and desktop operating systems.

  • Hands on experience with security incident response, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and forensic analysis.

  • Excellent analytical, writing, and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex security concepts for both technical and non‐technical audiences.

  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (., PowerShell, Python, Azure CLI, GitHub Actions).
  • Equivalent professional experience may be substituted for the degree on a year‐for‐year basis.
  • Additional relevant experience, or clinical expertise, may be substituted for information systems experience

    The expected salary range for this position is VS/33S - $117,204.00 - $146,501.00 per year, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
