This position involves contributing to HashiCorp's offerings, now part of IBM, which empower organizations to automate and secure multi-cloud and hybrid environments.

You will join a team managing the lifecycle of infrastructure and security, enhancing IBM's cloud solutions to ensure enterprises achieve efficiency, security, and scalability in their cloud journey.
**Your role and responsibilities**
As a Manager of Product Education Engineering at HashiCorp, you will lead a team of 4-6 Education Engineers and Technical Writers, who build online tutorials and documentation to help technical practitioners understand and use HashiCorp Terraform, Packer, Vagrant, Waypoint, and Sentinel.

Your team will be responsible for the written documents, tutorials, videos, and in-browser interactive labs in the sections of our developer portal that cover the HashiCorp Infrastructure Product Line:

The team you manage:


* Supports product launches with clear, navigable, searchable, and useful documentation.


* Structures content based on educational and information-architecture best practices, adult learning theory, content and product usage data, and corporate priorities.
* Produces high-quality hands-on tutorials, diagrams, code samples, demo applications, videos, and other educational content that matches our products with the developer problems they solve.
* Delivers instructor-led training during company conferences.
* Supports the creation and maintenance of certification exams as product SMEs.
* Provides R&D with substantive product feedback on feature functionality and workflows.
* Collaborates with the team that maintains the [6] developer.hashicorp.com web platform to improve the user experience.



Role description



In this role you will help the team execute on their strategy for aligning existing product documentation and tutorials with user needs, lead quarterly planning initiatives, help drive alignment with your counterparts on other product lines, and facilitate relationships with R&D stakeholders when needed.



You will use tools including career matrices, 1:1’s, and feedback cycles to communicate expectations and help your team meet them.

You will also contribute improvements back to these tools.

In this role you will:  

Manage people


* Build systems that help the education team work efficiently and effectively.
* Give your team members clear and kind feedback that helps them grow their careers.
* Set clear expectations for the team and help them meet those expectations.



Be accountable for content quality


* Review and test content by running step-by-step tutorials on the command line.


* Suggest technical, educational, and linguistic improvements to existing and new content.
* Recognize clear voice and style in written material and coach team members on clarity.
* Ensure that users can find high-quality answers via navigation, search, and LLMs. 
* Use analytics to evaluate and improve our content.



Build roadmaps


* Help set team goals that align with broader Education and DevRel team goals.
* Prioritize initiatives and align the team workload with its capacity.


* Produce quarterly content roadmaps that accomplish goals and support feature releases.



Interface with other teams


* Triage content requests from inside and outside the company.
* Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Support, Marketing, and Web Engineering.
* Remove organizational barriers to cross-team collaboration when necessary.



Candidates who are a good fit for this role will have management experience, and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, which we will test during the interview process.

You should be comfortable working with code and the command line, and have experience building, deploying, or maintaining applications running on cloud infrastructure: AWS, Azure, GCP, or another cloud vendor.

**Required technical and professional expertise**
* Managed engineers, or other people in technical roles for at least two years.
* Built, deployed, or maintained cloud applications, or held a DevOps role.
* Built public, step-by-step, command-line tutorials, demos, labs, or other online content.

* Reviewed and acted on analytics to improve user experiences.


**Preferred technical and professional experience**
Strongly preferred:


* Production Terraform experience
* Built and socialized roadmaps, publication schedules, or other planning documents.
* Managed or mentored content creators.
* Managed teamwork using Jira, Asana, or other task management tools.


* Written or edited content for a particular voice and style.


* Production experience with other HashiCorp products
* Certification in a HashiCorp product



Preferred 


* Experience creating audio and video content
* Experience explaining concepts visually by creating graphics, diagrams, and other media
* Experience in a customer-facing technical role (Examples: technical trainer, sales engineer, technical account manager, customer success engineer, enterprise architect, software engineer, or other relevant work experience)
